AFRO PUFFS MANIA IN SOUTH FLORIDA: A Celebration of Black families and Black Pride.
MIAMI, FLORIDA - The Afro Puffs Collection of stickers, shirts, hats, tote bags, mugs, sport bottles, and soon-to-be-for-sale dolls are the latest trend blazing across South Florida. Afro Puffs stickers can be seen on the rear windshields of cars, trucks, minivans, and SUV's cruising South Florida's superhighways. The stickers have also become emblems in suburban communities -- from carpool lanes at schools to soccer fields, stadiums and supermarket parking lots. T-Shirts, hats, and mugs featuring Afro Puffs' signature illustrations are also "must haves" for Black families in South Florida.
The popularity of the entire Afro Puffs Collection can only be explained by the prominence of African American, Caribbean, and African communities in South Florida. The Collection displays a vibrant kinship amongst people of African descent. Each product captures the Black diaspora's trademark beauty, unique personality, style and flair.
"Thanks to the Afro Puffs Collection, my two daughters and son finally have positive images that look like them", said Anita Turner, a resident of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Anita had seen stickers of moms, dads and children of different ethnicities on cars. However, according to Anita, "[i]t wasn't until Afro Puffs products became available that [she] found images that reflected [her] African American family." Anita now proudly displays several stickers from the Afro Puffs Collection on her vehicle.
The Afro Puffs brand also has strong emotional appeal. Most, if not all, Black women remember afro puffs as young girls; hair parted perfectly down the middle, combed, brushed and pulled into two springy "afro puffs". Whether your afro puffs were held together by ribbons, rubber bands, bo-bos, barrettes, or scrunchies -- if you're Black and female, the hairstyle claimed you at some point during your childhood.
The Afro Puffs Collection has been a labor love for owner Wendy Brewster Maroun, a proud mother of two and a practicing attorney in Miami. Wendy conceived of the Afro Puffs Collection after finding that the one-size-fits-all images being marketed in South Florida failed to capture the essence and spirit of her family and friends. Wendy viewed this gap in retail as an opportunity to create a collection of products that showcases Black families and Black pride.
Given Afro Puffs phenomenal success in South Florida, plans are underway to launch the Collection in major cities in the United States and abroad. For more information or to purchase products from the Afro Puffs Collection, please visit www.afropuffsonline.com. -END-
